Detroit at Arizona 9:30 ET

Tigers over Diamondbacks- Arizona is slated to start right-hander Ryne Nelson (2-2, 5.33 ERA) on Friday. Nelson has had an up-and-down season, posting 19 strikeouts across six starts and 25 1/3 innings. In his previous start, he surrendered three runs and 10 hits over 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision against Baltimore on May 11. Nelson was a winner in his only appearance vs. the Tigers. On June 10, 2023, in Detroit, he pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings, surrendering four hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Detroit is coming off back-to-back shutout losses to the slumping Miami Marlins. May has been tough for the Tigers, who are 4-9 and haven't won a series since late April and yet they are favored on the road. Detroit will turn to left-hander Tarik Skubal (5-0, 2.02) to continue the streak. Skubal has 60 strikeouts and eight walks over 49 innings in his eight starts. Skubal last pitched on Saturday in an 8-2 win over the visiting Houston Astros. He gave up two runs on seven hits and struck out seven. Skubal has never faced Arizona. Take DETROIT!

New York Mets at Miami 7:30 ET

Marlins over Mets- The Mets had the highest Opening Day payroll in baseball at $305.6 million while Miami had the fifth-lowest payroll at $97.2 million. New York enters play Friday having lost five of its past seven games. Miami enters the series on a high, having gone on the road and taken two of three games at Detroit. Marlins will look for lefty Jesus Luzardo (0-3, 5.97 ERA) to execute. For his career, he is 2-2 with a 3.55 ERA in six career starts against the Mets. The Marlins are 1-5 this season when starting Luzardo. The Mets, rookie Christian Scott will make his third major league start on Friday. The Mets just can’t get it done. Take MIAMI!

Milwaukee at Houston 8:10 ET

Astros over Brewers- Right-hander Freddy Peralta (3-1, 3.63 ERA) is scheduled to start the series opener for the Brewers on Friday. Peralta is 0-1 with an 11.57 ERA in two career appearances (one start) against the Astros. His lone start against the Astros came in Houston on June 11, 2019, when Peralta allowed six runs on eight hits and one walk with seven strikeouts over four-plus innings in a 10-8 loss. Right-hander Hunter Brown (0-4, 7.79) has the starting assignment for the Astros. Brown made his first relief appearance of the season and the longest of his career. Brown, who is set for his first career appearance against Milwaukee, is 1-8 over his last 14 outings. Pirates over Cubs- Highly touted Paul Skenes (0-0, 6.75 ERA) struck out seven and walked two across four-plus innings on Saturday in his MLB debut, when Pittsburgh coughed up a 6-1 lead before rallying from a two-run deficit in the fifth en route to a wild 10-9 home victory. Cubs right-hander Kyle Hendricks (0-3, 10.04 ERA) will attempt to keep trending in the right direction. Hendricks is scheduled to make his seventh start of the season on Friday. He was lit up for 28 runs in 21 innings across his first five outings. He is 9-13 with a 3.54 ERA in 30 career starts vs. the Pirates. Take PITTSBURGH!

New York at Indiana 8:30 ET

Pacers (-) over Knicks- The New York Knicks are one victory away from reaching the Eastern Conference finals for the first time since 2000. Knicks forward OG Anunoby will miss his fourth straight game due to a hamstring injury sustained in Game 2. Indiana coach Rick Carlisle expects an improved effort with his club facing elimination. The Pacers were outrebounded 53-29, including 20-5 on the offensive glass, in Game 5. New York possessed a 62-36 edge in points in the paint. Indiana has been a different team at home with a 5-0 mark in the postseason, including victories by five and 32 in this series. The situation will be pressure-packed as the Pacers have to win twice to win the series. Take INDIANA!
